La demanda de aviones comerciales ha crecido enormemente en las \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas. Airbus entregaba poco m\u00e1s de 300 aeronaves por a\u00f1o en 2003, seg\u00fan datos de Statista. En 2012, sin embargo, el n\u00famero de pedidos por completar hab\u00eda crecido hasta aproximadamente 600 unidades. La empresa europea, que es una de las m\u00e1s importantes de la industria, se enfrentaba por aquel entonces a un enorme desaf\u00edo:\u00a0aumentar r\u00e1pidamente su producci\u00f3n<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Evitar retrasos en las entregas le permit\u00eda posicionarse mejor en un mercado donde su principal competidor es Boeing, el gigante aeroespacial estadounidense. Si los aviones no llegan a tiempo a los clientes, estos pueden decidir elegir otro fabricante para futuros pedidos e incluso cancelar los pedidos en curso. Airbus quer\u00eda evitar ese escenario y, aunque hab\u00eda optimizado su l\u00ednea de producci\u00f3n, ten\u00eda un importante problema log\u00edstico.<\/p>\n

\u00bfQu\u00e9 quedaba entonces?\u00a0Construir su propio avi\u00f3n<\/strong>, despu\u00e9s de todo este es su principal negocio (y habilidad).<\/p>\n

Ahora bien, construir un avi\u00f3n desde cero es una tarea muy compleja que puede llevar a\u00f1os en completarse, adem\u00e1s de requerir un enorme presupuesto e investigaci\u00f3n. En este sentido. Airbus tampoco pod\u00eda darse ese lujo. Necesitaba un avi\u00f3n de carga lo suficientemente grande como para transportar dos alas de un Airbus A350 al mismo tiempo.\u00a0Como recoge la propia Airbus, la compa\u00f1\u00eda decidi\u00f3 construir el nuevo avi\u00f3n sobre una plataforma existente, la del A330.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
