El Solar Impulse 2 aterriz\u00f3 en Sevilla, en el sur de Espa\u00f1a, a las 0540 GMT del jueves, tras un vuelo de 71 horas y 8 minutos que comenz\u00f3 el lunes en Nueva York. \u00c9sta es la primera vez que un avi\u00f3n propulsado solo por energ\u00eda solar cubre un trayecto similar sin emplear combustible y con cero emisiones, apuntaron los organizadores.<\/p>\n

La aeronave recorri\u00f3 6.765 kil\u00f3metros a una altura m\u00e1xima de 8,534 metros y una velocidad promedio de 95 kph, explic\u00f3 una nota en el sitio web oficial del proyecto.<\/p>\n

\u00c9sta fue la 15ta etapa de una vuelta al mundo que inici\u00f3 en marzo de 2015 en Emiratos \u00c1rabes Unidos.<\/p>\n

Las alas del Solar Impulse 2, de mayor envergadura que las de un Boeing 747, est\u00e1n equipadas con 17.000 celdas solares que dan energ\u00eda a las h\u00e9lices y cargan las bater\u00edas. El avi\u00f3n vuela de noche con la energ\u00eda almacenada.<\/p>\n

Los pilotos son los suizos Bertrand Piccard y Andr\u00e9 Borschberg.<\/p>\n

\u201cAl principio la industria aeron\u00e1utica nos dijo que era imposible construir semejante avi\u00f3n, pero nosotros cre\u00edamos que pod\u00edamos hacerlo gracias a las tecnolog\u00edas de nuestros socios\u201d, dijo Borschberg en un comunicado.<\/p>\n

El proyecto revela que \u201cla exploraci\u00f3n y la aventura ya no consisten en conquistar nuevos territorios, sino en explorar nuevos medios para lograr una mejor calidad de vida en la tierra\u201d, a\u00f1adieron.<\/p>\n
